"Every ending has a beginning." But is it a happy ending?
Before It Ends With Us, it started with Atlas. Atlas finally got his happy ending after so many years of waiting. After setting into a civil co-parenting rhythm with their daughter, Lily, and Ryle were able to have a civil relationship and move on from their past. Atlas and Lily could finally be together, but to what cost? Are they able to overcome the challenges from their past?
It Ends With Us, had a beautiful timeline and an impactful ending. It Starts With Us continued that timeline but ruined the ending of It Ends With Us. The ending of It Ends With Us, allowed the readers to decide if they wanted Lily to move on or stay with Atlas. As I read the second book, I realized that I wished Lily would have moved on and discover herself. The second book was overhyped by social media and I honestly think Colleen Hoover felt pressure to write this book due to the attention the first book received on social media.
